THE BLEND

Malt opens first: followed by a smooth wave of woodsmoke that settles in before the whole cup closes with a faint lift of cornflower. Built into a blend that rewards the mornings you actually give yourself, it combines Sri Lankan and Kenyan Orange Pekoe with Assam and Lapsang Souchong.

THE FJORD

A kettle hangs over a campfire on a Norwegian fjord at first light. Behind the tent, a whale breaks the surface of the still water. The smoke from the fire drifts toward the mountains. Nobody planned that moment. Nobody needed to. Some things just happen when you stop staring at a screen and start paying attention to the world that is actually in front of you. This tea was built around exactly that kind of morning, the one you remember long after the trip is over.

FROM THE PLANET

Lapsang Souchong from Xingchun in Fujian Province, China, is pine-smoke dried using a process unchanged for generations. This Camellia sinensis variety develops a smoke character entirely naturally through the drying process. Studies suggest the phenolic compounds developed during pine-smoke drying carry digestive and warming properties with a long place in Chinese herbal practice. The malty structure of Indian Assam black tea provides a grounding foundation that supports a focused morning.

INGREDIENTS

Sri Lankan black tea, Kenyan black tea, Assam black tea, Lapsang Souchong (Camellia sinensis), cornflower petals. No allergens from the UK 14 major allergen list present. Produced in a facility that handles nuts and various botanical ingredients.

HOW TO BREW

Water temperature: 95 to 100 degrees C. Freshly boiled. Quantity: 1 heaped teaspoon per cup, approximately 2.5g. Steep time: 3 to 5 minutes. Best enjoyed black to let the full smoke and malt character come through. A single measure will give you three cups at around 80 percent strength.
